Ubuntu coming to Russia on HP Devices

  • HP to launch a number of laptops and desktop PCs preinstalled with Ubuntu in Russia
  • Devices to be sold through major Russian resellers/distributors
May 2015, London: Canonical is pleased to announce that HP is launching a number of devices, preloaded with Ubuntu, in Russia. The devices, including notebooks and All-In-One PCs, will be available for purchase from selected resellers and distributors throughout the region by mid-May, 2015.


This marks another milestone in Canonical and HP’s longstanding partnership. Whilst Ubuntu has shipped on HP devices for consumer and commercial audiences around the globe, this is the first joint launch between HP and Canonical in Russia.
Several HP notebooks and All-in-One desktop PCs preloaded with Ubuntu will be available at launch; with processors/chipsets from both AMD and Intel. Several Notebooks from HP’s 15 series will be available, all with a Stone Silver chassis, and varying RAM capacities of 2GB and 4GB along with 500GB hard drives.
  • HP 15 AMD based notebook with AMD E1-2100 & A6-5200 processors
  • HP 15 Intel based notebook with Intel Celeron N2840, Pentium N3540 and Core i3-4005U processors
Additionally, the 20’’ HP 1C15 AIO desktop, will be available as well boasting an AMD E1-6010 processor, 2GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive capacity.
Ubuntu 14.04, the Long Term Support (LTS) version, will be available on these devices providing support and maintenance for five years from release date. This release includes support for touch screen and hiDPI monitors enabling it to work beautifully and seamlessly across all devices.
